Gareth Bale’s form has dramatically improved at Tottenham, yet the English club still haven’t made up their mind as to what to do with the forward when the summer arrives.
The Welshman is currently on loan at Spurs from Real Madrid, but he still has a contract until 2022 in the Spanish capital and could theoretically return to Los Blancos for the 2021/22 campaign.
If Tottenham do want Bale‘s loan to be extended then they’d have to negotiate with Real Madrid again as there are no automatic clauses.
The current arrangement is for Tottenham to pay just over half of his wages, up to some 700,000 euros. If he were to stay, the question of who pays his salary would have to be raised once again.
Bale‘s agent Jonathan Barnett has said his client is happy in London, but the British media are reporting that Tottenham haven’t decided yet if they will push to keep him.
So far this season, the 31-year-old bas played in 22 matches and has scored 10 goals, earning more and more minutes with his recent good performances. In his past three matches, he has bagged two braces.
It remains to be seen if this is enough to convince Tottenham to pick up the phone to Real Madrid and start negotiating.
