Real Madrid Extends Lead with Victory Over Osasuna: Vinicius Junior Shines

Real Madrid moved away by 10 points in the lead with its broad victory over its host Osasuna 4-2, including a brace by its Brazilian striker Vinicius Junior, taking advantage of the defeat of its chaser Girona to its host Getafe 0-1 on Saturday in the twenty-ninth stage of the Spanish Football Championship, bringing Real Madrid its score to 72. One point compared to 62 for runner-up Girona.

Therefore, Real Madrid is very close to regaining the title that it lost to Barcelona last season, and Girona also faces the possibility of losing second place to Barcelona if the latter wins its host, fourth-placed Atletico Madrid, in Sunday’s summit match.

The victory is the twenty-second for Real Madrid in 29 matches this season, noting that it suffered one loss, which was to its neighbor Atletico Madrid 1-3.

Real Madrid played the match in the absence of its top scorer, Englishman Jude Bellingham, due to suspension, but it took 4 minutes to open the scoring through Brazilian Vinicius Junior, who snatched the ball from Osasuna defender Alejandro Cartena and deposited it into the net.

Osasuna equalized after only two minutes through Croatian Ante Budimir, who was unmarked inside the area and followed the ball into the net. Budimir, who has been brilliant this season, raised his score to 15 goals this season, putting him one goal away from Bellingham, the top scorer.

Real Madrid succeeded in advancing again after a wonderful three-way game started by Brahim Dias, who chose to defend the colors of Morocco during the current week, and coach Walid Regragui chose him in his squad for the two friendly matches against Angola and Mauritania at the end of this month, and from him to Uruguayan Federico Valverde, who passed it towards the right back, Dani Carvajal. The latter shot it into the goal (18).

Dias widened the gap after he dribbled past a defender and shot the ball with his right to the left of goalkeeper Sergio Herrera (61), raising his tally to five goals this season. Real dealt the final blow to Osasuna when Valverde left the ball to Vinicius, and the latter ran it down the left side before sending it creeping in. Opposite corner (64), and the goal is Vinicius’ twelfth this season in the league and the eighteenth in various competitions.

In the first minute of stoppage time, Osasuna scored an honorary goal through Iker Munius, who shot a creeping ball that passed between the legs of Real’s Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.
Real Madrid won the first leg over Osasuna 4-0 last October, and Osasuna thus failed to achieve its first victory over Real Madrid since January 2011.
