Real Madrid Close to Signing Kepa Arrizabalaga as Replacement for Injured Courtois: Reports

Real Madrid is close to signing international goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, England, to compensate for the absence of Belgian Thibaut Courtois, who suffered an injury that will keep him out for most of the season, according to Spanish reports, on Saturday.

Courtois, 28, tore the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee during training on Thursday, and will undergo surgery within days.

Arrizabalaga, the former Spanish goalkeeper of Athletic Bilbao, who moved to Chelsea for a record amount of 80 million euros for a goalkeeper in 2018, has been associated with Bayern Munich since the start of the summer transfer period.

According to many Spanish media, Real Madrid will try to obtain his services on loan, with the option to buy from the London club.

The Royal Club was also associated with Moroccan international Yassin Bounou, the Spanish goalkeeper of Seville, knowing that he will lose his services in January and February due to his preoccupation with the African Cup of Nations.

Seville is demanding more than 20 million euros for Bono, while Real spent large sums on English international Jude Bellingham (103 million euros) and young Turkish Arda Guler (20 million).

Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti said in a press conference, Friday, that Real Madrid is not looking to sign a new goalkeeper, provided that the Ukrainian young man, Andrei Lunin, will stand between the three woods on Saturday, in the first league match this season against Bilbao.
