Real Madrid have regained their taste for victory in La Liga this Saturday. At home, the Merengue defeated Celta Vigo (2-0).
After the poor performance recorded in the middle of the week against Elche (1-1), Real Madrid recovered this Saturday when Celta Vigo received. Against the Galicians, and despite the absence of their captain Sergio Ramos, the Spanish champions did not have too many difficulties to impose their law. They won 2-0.
Asensio-Vazquez, the winning duo
For once, Karim Benzema did not participate directly in the victory of his people. In front of the opposing goals, the former Lyonnais remained silent. He had a chance in the 64th but he crossed his shot too much. In fact, he was stolen the show by his two attacking teammates, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez.
After a long crossing of the desert, the Spanish duo regained their efficiency. Vazquez was the first to strike with a victorious header from the 6th minute, following a cross from Asensio. The opening goal came as Celta had just missed a goal ball. Iago Aspas had managed to beat Thibaut Courtois, but the ball was cleared on the line by Nacho. An opportunity that was no longer represented by Vigo.
Celta did not exist
Vazquez therefore took advantage of an offering from Asensio and in the second half he returned the favor. At the entrance to the area, he served his teammate so that the latter concluded in force and in full skylight. We were playing the 53rd minute and there was no longer any suspense about the outcome of this confrontation.
Having had total control of the match, Real could have won more clearly. Carvajal (44th) had notably missed a great opportunity at the forefront. Entering the last quarter of an hour of the game, Eden Hazard would also have liked to put himself in the forefront, but he did not have many exploitable balls. However, it will be without regret for the Belgian and his teammates.
Thanks to this victory, Real are temporarily back at the top of La Liga, one point ahead of Atlético Madrid. However, the Matelassiers have three games less. Failing to dominate the championship, Zinédine Zidane’s men therefore remain in the race for the title.
