Jakarta, tvOnenews.com – Real Madrid can confirm that captain Karim Benzema will leave the club in the 2023 summer transfer window, after 14 years at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid announced the news of Benzema’s departure through the official website, Sunday (5/6/2023).
During his 14 season career with Los Blancos, the French bomber has contributed a total of 25 trophies to the club.
“Real Madrid Football Club and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to end a glorious and unforgettable time as a player at our club,” a Real Madrid statement read.
Benzema’s departure has made Real Madrid look for a new captain.
Benzema inherited the Real Madrid captain’s armband following the departure of Marcelo in the 2022 summer transfer window.
According to Real Madrid tradition, the captain’s armband will be worn by a player according to the hierarchy of the number of years he has spent with the club.
