In recent weeks, Real Madrid is at a great disposal. The royals walk from victory to victory, and with not just any teams. Carlo Ancelotti’s team defeated, among others Inter, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Real Sociedad or Athletic Bilbao. For the last time – in all competitions – Los Blancos experienced the bitterness of defeat at the beginning of October, when they lost 1-2 to Espanyol. Sunday’s rivalry with Cadiz certainly did not promise to be as demanding as the Madrid Derby, but the coach of Los Blancos still warned his players. He realized it would not be a walk for his players. Especially since the Italian could not bet on a few players who are currently in quarantine.
As predicted by Real Madrid, Real Madrid was much better in the first half. The hosts held the ball for a long time, but nothing came of it. The Kingsmen lacked accuracy and had great difficulty in constructing opportune opportunities that could be ended with a shot. Fede Valverde had the best opportunity in the first 45 minutes. The Uruguayan boomed from a distance, but fortunately for the Cadiz team, Jeremias Ledesma was at the post, showing off an excellent intervention.
The guests focused on the game from the counterattack and it must be admitted that they were able to quickly transport the ball to half of their rivals several times with several passes. You could also praise them for their determination. In turn, in the white colors of Real Madrid, Eden Hazard was once again doing mediocre, which probably does not surprise anyone. The Belgian was given a chance to play on the right, but the effect was that this side of Los Blancos posed virtually no threat under the opponents’ goal.
After switching sides, the game image did not change at all. The hosts pushed more and more with each passing minute, but they beat their heads against the wall. Cadiz went very deep on the defensive where Carlos Akapo ruled and shared. With long fragments of the game, they were practically the whole team in their own sixteen, so the Kings had a problem with creating one hundred percent situations for themselves.
Sometimes, however, they managed to threaten the goal of Jeremias Ledesma. In the 56th minute, Eden Hazard could have entered the list of shooters. The Belgian seemed to get a perfect deep-field pass from Toni Kroos, but he didn’t hit the ball very well. A few moments later, Vinicius Junior made use of his speed and agility. The Brazilian, however, did not score a goal.
At the end of the second quarter of the game after the break, the visitors came out with a very dangerous counterattack, which ended with a shot on goal by Thibaut Courtois. Alvaro Negredo, who showed up right at the start of the second half, was slightly wrong. Literally a minute later Karim Benzema fell in the Cadiz penalty area. The judge, however, remained adamant and decided not to dictate a penalty kick.
Real Madrid have made a few good chances for themselves, but the result has not changed anymore. The royals interrupted their brilliant streak.
