Real Madrid Beats Chelsea 2-0, AC Milan Defeats Napoli With Ismael Binnásir’s Goal

AC Milan beat Napoli in the Italian match with Ismael Binnásir’s goal in the 40th minute. Even at San Siro, the visiting team received a red card, André-Frank Zambo Anguissa had to be sent off prematurely in the 74th minute. Rematches are scheduled for Tuesday, April 18.

Chelsea, despite the defensive line-up, started the repeat of last year’s quarter-final and the battle of the last two winners of the Champions League actively. However, Joao Félix failed to beat former “Blues” goalkeeper Courtois from the visitors’ biggest opening chance.

Real gradually took the initiative and opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Goalkeeper Arrizabalaga deflected Vinícius’ shot in front of a free Benzema and he easily finished it into an empty net. The reigning Ballon d’Or winner scored 20 goals against English opponents in the elite competition, only Lionel Messi (27) scored more against Premier League teams.

A quick equalizer was denied by Courtois with a great save against Sterling. On the other hand, Rodrygo failed to mature against Arrizabalaga in another promising opportunity.

The London team’s chances for a better result in the 59th minute were further reduced by Chilwell, who fouled the escaping Rodrygo just before the penalty area and received a straight red card.

“White Ballet” took advantage of the power play in the 74th minute. Vinícius tapped the ball to Asensio and the fresh substitute beat Arrizabalaga with a ground shot after three minutes on the pitch. Real have won only their second of eight head-to-head matches in UEFA competitions. Chelsea also lost their second competitive game under old coach Lampard.

Napoli, even without the injured top scorer Osimhene, had the upper hand for a long time in the first half, but could not overcome Maignan. For example, the Milan goalkeeper was brilliant against Zieliňský’s blow. AC belonged to the end of the half. In the 40th minute, Binnásir opened the scoring after a quick break and a quick shot. Just before the break, the home team’s Kjaer headed into the crossbar.

The sovereign leaders of the Italian league, who were playing in the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history, were complicated by Anguissa less than a quarter of an hour before the end. The Cameroon midfielder was sent off for two yellow cards in four minutes. Napoli did not return the “Rossoneri” league debacle 0:4 from the beginning of the month and hesitated away after a series of eight competitive wins.
