Still looking for a new president, the Spanish Football Federation has seen FIFA and UEFA put pressure on it regarding a possible exclusion of Iberian clubs from European competitions.

Since the Luis Rubiales affair who resigned from his position as president of the Spanish Football Federation at the end of last year, a successor is still awaited. So much so that UEFA and FIFA have decided to step up to the plate. According to information from the daily AS, the two European and world football organizations have issued an ultimatum to the RFEF and asked for guarantees so that a new president will be appointed within the next three months, i.e. by the end of the year 2024, under penalty of seeing sanctions fall.

Thus, UEFA and FIFA planned to act and the legal director of FIFA, Emilio Garcia Silvero, announced that Spanish clubs could be excluded from European competitions (Barça, Atlético, Girona, and Real Madrid in the Champions League in particular), just like the different national selections in major tournaments (Euro, World Cup): “If the process does not move forward, if we continue without a president in the coming months, FIFA and UEFA will act. The latter are very concerned about the situation of the Federation.
