From the production of Boss, Magnum and Nirvana in the lock
It is recalled that the Taurus factory, where all the top ice cream brands created by DELTA such as Boss, Magnum and Nirvana were once produced, has been closed since 2017.
Then the Froneri company (a joint venture between Nestle and the British R&R) in an attempt to redesign the loss-making company had taken the decision to stop production and remain in Greece as a commercial company with the ice creams in the “green” refrigerators coming from factories abroad (Poland, Italy, etc.).
The ice cream activity was transferred from Nestle to Froneri Hellas in 2016, a few months before the lockout of their factory in Tavros.
Nestle, in turn, had acquired DELTA Ice Cream, then listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, in 2006, with Dimitris Daskalopoulos, the main shareholder of the company at the time, leaving the ice cream business.
What is the Meijer family from Amsterdam looking for in Taurus?
Somehow, after all these shenanigans, the factory ended up in the hands of Bart Meijer, who, although his “journey” from Amsterdam to Tauros is to this day somewhat like the journey of Odysseus to Ithaca, he does not leave the area.
We remind you that two years ago the TAIPED has declared MRP Tavros S.A. as a bidder for the utilization of the property of the former EOMMEX warehouses in Tavros.
However, regarding the fate of the property, which is bounded by Koryzi, Thraki and Timotheus Eugenikos streets and includes a preserved building and several old buildings used as exhibition spaces, workshops and warehouses, the Tavros – Moschatos municipal authority has a different opinion, resulting in the plans of the Dutch to be in the air.
But, who is Bart Meijer? Coming from a family that has been involved in real estate for over a century, like his father and brother, Bart Meijer has dedicated his life to improving urban life in cities across the Netherlands.
10 years ago, together with his father Ton Meijer, he founded MRP, which is a real estate development and exploitation company with buildings with a total area of more than 1.5 million square meters, focusing on mixed-use projects (affordable housing, commercial uses, parking, dining and recreation) in the city center.
“It has been active in the Greek market since 2021, focusing on sustainable urban development projects that will upgrade the quality of life of citizens,” it states in a relevant information note on its website.
It should be noted that MRP, in addition to placing in Tavros, has also bought Xenia Spetson.
