Ivar Tollefsen has for several decades built property values in his wholly owned company Fredensborg. Much of the value lies in the Swedish company Heimstaden Bostad, which is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
Heimstaden was established in 1998 and later acquired by Ivar Tollefsen’s parent company Fredensborg for 1.6 billion in 2005. Heimstaden was previously owned by the Norwegian property developers Torstein Tvenge and Reiten & Co with Narve Reiten as the largest owner.
Heimstaden previously owned over 116,000 rental apartments.

Stefan van Rooyen, CEO of Chamonix, says the sale comes after a long period of interest in the property from potential buyers locally and internationally.
– In connection with the negotiations, the new owners expressed a desire to see Chamonix’s wine activities continue. We are thus entering next year’s harvest with excitement, not only for what appears to be an excellent vintage, but with the expectation that Chamonix will enter a new chapter in its famous history as a leading South African vineyard, says van Rooyen to Wineland Media.
DN has contacted Ivar Tollefsen and communications manager Christian Dreyer in Fredensborg for a comment on the purchase.

Secured wine castle
Ivar Tollefsen is not alone in securing a vineyard abroad. In 2019, the real estate investor bought Tom Rune Pedersen a wine castle with large vineyards in Languedoc in the south of France . – It is a property the group can use for both Norwegian and international target groups who want something very special. We also think of private events such as weddings and such. In addition, a wine is produced there that is known over large parts of the world and which we will of course help to highlight in our hotels and restaurants here in Norway, Ole Executive Vice President Ole Warberg of Magic Norway told DN about the acquisition .
