During the first lockdown, on-site visits for the sale or rental of a home were also not allowed. Indeed, yesterday’s ministerial decree with the corona measures does not include such home visits as essential services. But notaries, for example, are included and may continue their activities physically.
Nevertheless, the sector federation states that physical site visits can indeed take place. “We do not agree with the FPS Economy’s reading of the ministerial decree. We do not read a prohibition in it”, says Daniel Buschman, president of the Confederation of Immobilien Professions Flanders.
“We advise our members to still allow effective site visits, of course in accordance with the rules of the previously approved sector guide. That means a limit of a maximum of two visitors together with the real estate agents, with a face mask and hand gel.” Buschman says he hopes that the FPS Economy will adjust its interpretation of the ministerial decision. “We are in consultation and are open to any discussion”, it sounds.
Flemish Minister of Housing Matthias Diependaele (N-VA) is also not happy with the ban. But until further notice, official communication from the federal government remains that such physical site visits are not possible. “I understand that it is complex. At the moment, physical site visits are prohibited, although I cannot say that that will not change,” said the cabinet of the Interior, responsible for the ministerial decision.
Anyone who wants to sell or rent out their home without a broker cannot formally organize visiting days. After all, in that case, the rules apply that no one is allowed to visit besides the so-called cuddle contact. Online viewings are allowed for both private individuals and brokers.
