Paris, June 17 (Cinktank.com) –
A Brooklyn hotel has canceled a concert by John Hinckley Jr, the man who shot then-US President Ronald Reagan in 1981 and was released this week after spending nearly 40 years in a psychiatric hospital , due to “threats”.
The Market Hotel confirmed on Instagram that the concert was canceled due to “very real and escalating threats” against Hinckley’s character. Other concerts he was scheduled to perform in Chicago, Connecticut, have also been canceled, according to Hinckley himself on his Twitter account.
Hinckley, now 67, was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the March 30, 1981 assassination of Reagan in Washington. The then president was seriously injured and his press secretary, James Brady, was disabled for life.
