Something as common as making a purchase can reveal methods that not all countries have adopted, and this is precisely the case of a Spanish woman who lives in London and who has shown on social networks a curious characteristic of London supermarkets which in Spain does not yet exist.
The protagonist of this story is the content creator known on social networks as ‘familialospeques’. Through his TikTok account, where he recounts his daily life living in the United Kingdom, he has shared a video that has already accumulated more than 79,000 views. In it, he shows an innovative tool present in some London supermarkets that facilitates the purchasing process in a surprising way.
“I’m going to show you a very curious thing here in the United Kingdom that does not yet exist in Spain,” he begins by explaining while showing some scans. As revealed, supermarkets in London have integrated a system that allows customers to scan products themselves that they acquire, eliminating the need to go through the traditional cash registers at the end of the purchase.
«At the entrance to the supermarket there are these little machines, what you have to do is, you press the screen, do you see that it turns green? Then you pick it up and with this you scan the products, put them in the cart and what you simply do is pay with your mobile phone and that’s it,” details the content creator while showing how it works.
The system is simple but effective, buyers go scanning each product as they put it in their cart, allowing them control the total of your purchase in real time. At the end, they only have to proceed to the payment, which can be made directly from your mobile or via card. “Or you scan the card and pay and that’s it, you take your purchase,” says the Spaniard.
An innovation that saves us waiting time
This process speeds up shopping experience greatly, especially in times of high influx of customers or when you have little time. “It’s very cool because if there’s a long queue or you’re in a hurry, you scan, scan, scan and that’s it, you pay from the app and take it home,” he adds, underlining how advantageous this system is.
For Londoners, this type of innovation is already part of their daily lives, but for those who come from other countries, such as Spain, it represents a leap forward in terms of comfort and efficiency when making the purchase. “A London curiosity,” concludes the Spanish content creator.
