North Korea (North Korea) says more than 1 million young people in their region have signed up to join the army this week. This happened amid the heat up on the Korean Peninsula after Pyongyang’s military accusation South Korea (South Korea) sent several drones to its territory.
“Millions of young people are participating in the national struggle to eliminate South Korean scum who are making serious incitements by violating the sovereignty of the DPRK through drone infiltration,” he said. Korea Central News Agency (KCNA), as reported AFPWednesday (16/10/2024).
DPRK is an abbreviation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the official name of North Korea.

It was reported by KCNA that more than 1.4 million youths, including youth league officials as well as youth and students across North Korea, have volunteered or joined the Korean People’s Army – the official name North Korean Army – on October 14 and October 15 local time.
North Korea has a long mandatory military service period for everyone in the country, and it has previously been said that there was a patriotic surge in military service that occurred at a time of high tensions with South Korea and United States (AS).
Meanwhile, on Tuesday (15/10), North Korea blew up a symbolic stretch of road and railway line on the border connecting the two Koreas after warning that the use of other drones would be considered a declaration of war.
Pyongyang also ordered its troops on the border to prepare to fire.
