Jakarta, Gizmology – Technology company Ericsson has brought its new portfolio, Radio 6626, to Indonesia. This three-sector dual-band radio device is said to be able to assist telecom operators in providing Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) capability for 5G network technology.
Ericsson Indonesia chief Jerry Soper said the launch reaffirmed Ericsson’s support for achieving sustainable and equitable digitization in Indonesia. What’s more radio unit 6626 it has multi-standard and multi-band coverage for 2G, 3G and 4G services.
“Radio 6626 has been implemented in Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s (IOH) network integration and capacity enhancement project to provide an extraordinary customer experience,” Jerry told reporters Thursday (20/10/2022).
Ericsson’s 6626 radio unit is designed to reduce your carbon footprint by up to 50% with lower power consumption. “We are committed to supporting digitization and enabling sustainable business growth by reducing the number of radios installed in the towers from six to one.”
This dual-band, three-sector 6626 radio set combines two frequencies and six ports into one unit. This allows a radio to supply power to three sectors in a tower. The 6T6R radio supports cellular standards from 2G to 5G.

The Ericsson 6626 radio is ready for 5G
The 6626 radio is available in dual band 900MHZ and 800MHZ and dual band 1800MHZ and 2100MHZ, providing service providers with additional support to increase capacity while addressing cost challenges.
On the same occasion, Ronni Nurmal, Head of Network Solution Ericsson Indonesia, explained that the Radio 6626 unit can support cellular operators in increasing capacity and efficiently updating sites by accelerating the time-to-market (TTM) of various 5G services.
“Additionally, Radio 6626 will enable full spectrum utilization which will increase IOH cost savings and a better customer experience,” said Ronni.
In terms of specifications, the Ericsson 6626 radio unit weighs just under 45kg and can deliver 720W of power. This platform can be combined with the Ericsson Voltage Booster 6640, which minimizes the need for new cables.
The new product complements the recently launched portfolio of ultra-light Massive MIMO and RAN Compute, which aim to make it easier for service providers to launch commercial 5G services.
“We are very pleased to be part of the introduction of Radio 6626, where this radio also helps us minimize energy consumption and tower weight by using green technology that is in line with our efforts to reduce our footprint. of carbon for a better environment, “concluded Indosat Chief Technology Officer Ooredoo Hutchison Desmond Cheung.
