Reactions in the social networks – SWR Aktuell

“Eco-Terrorists”, “Neglected Children”, “Nothing in the Bulb”. Insults and hate comments against the activist group “Last Generation” are piling up online.

Already on Monday we reported on the sit-in protest on the B31. Some activists from the group “Last Generation” had their hands taped to the street. An ambulance had to free her from the adhesive. Traffic was backed up for miles. Around 20 activists also blocked the main road in Freiburg on Friday morning. The demonstrators are calling for a “Food Saving Law” and an agricultural turnaround by 2030.

Özdemir criticizes road blockades

Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir supported the group’s intentions: “For me personally, the fight against food waste is very important”. However, the Green politician criticized their methods: “I believe that road blockades harm our common goal. You definitely won’t win majorities in society by blocking ambulances, the police or educators on the way to work.”

Much hate on the net against “Last Generation”

The protests by environmental activists have also caused a stir on social media. There were negative comments, especially on Facebook. A Facebook entry speaks of “environmental terrorists”. The activists should bear the costs of the police action, it says, and “hopefully “the ‘last generation’ who have such stupid ideas.”

What kind of sick people.. how crazy do you have to be to tape your hands to the street because you can see that they aren’t up to anything. Record personal details and they would have to pay all the costs. It must really hurt
