React to what the former head of Saudi intelligence said about Gaza and Israel

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists circulated on social media, video clips with excerpts from statements made by the former head of Saudi intelligence, Prince Turki Al-Faisal, about Gaza, Israel, and the Palestinian issue during his participation in the Manama Dialogue in Bahrain, on Saturday.

Al-Faisal said, “Since the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, whenever a crisis or war erupts in our region, talk escalates about the need for a solution to address the roots of the conflict, and despite that, everyone talks but does not follow the path until its end,” adding: “There was no shortage of ideas.” Or statements, peace initiatives, or resolutions from the United Nations and the Security Council, but they stand at Israel’s door, because of the unconditional support from the United States of America and Europe, and therefore all the initiatives were in vain and peace remained an imaginary goal.”

Al-Faisal stressed that the conflict did not begin on October 7, 2023, saying: “There is a long history that led to today, most of which are attacks on the Palestinians.” He added: “The world is witnessing the failure to stop the Israeli attack on Gaza, which amounts to genocide, and is accompanied by the threat to use nuclear weapons.”

Al-Faisal condemned the Hamas attacks on October 7, describing them as “barbaric,” but at the same time stressed that he must also condemn “the barbaric Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians, not only in Gaza but also in the West Bank,” and he saw that “this war is a turning point.” In the process of seriously searching for a just solution to the Palestinian issue, he deals with the roots of this conflict.”

Al-Faisal warned that “the Israeli nuclear threat is an open invitation to others in the region to pursue this option,” and said: “This recklessness on the part of Israel must be carefully considered and not allowed to pass without accountability.”
