Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Tweeters on the X platform (formerly Twitter) reacted to a tweet by Gerard Pique, the former Barcelona player, following the Catalan team’s 5-0 victory over its rival, Real Madrid, in the Spanish Women’s League.
Pique tweeted an emoji indicating the number 5, and followers considered it a clear reference to his famous celebration when FC Barcelona scored a fifth goal against its rival Real Madrid, during previous matches between the two teams.
Pique, who retired from football in November 2022, at the age of 35, is considered one of the players who participated most in the Spanish Clasico for men.
Barcelona Women’s Club’s victory over Real Madrid is the first of its kind this season, and the ninth for the Catalan team in the competition, strengthening its lead in the standings with 29 points, while the Merengue team’s balance is frozen at 21 points in second place.
