As the world of sport continues to hold its breath, Olivier Oltra and his father Jean-Michel are trying to keep RCO Agde afloat. With the training of young people as a driving force.
What is the current situation at RCOA?
She is delicate vis-à-vis the curfew, we had to rearrange all the schedules. Training resumed on December 15th for the children, it was something very important for them. They necessarily miss competition, it’s not always easy with barrier gestures, but it’s a very good thing that we can keep them active.
How do you see the next few weeks?
We try to have perspectives, but we have to move forward day by day, depending on the numbers and decisions. What is certain is that we are preparing to be ready as soon as the resumption of competitions is authorized.
What does training represent to you?
We attach great importance to it, we have been working in this area for a year and a half to make up for the delay that had been taken. Excellent work has been carried out in recent months, particularly with regard to the animation pole, from U6 to U13. It is one of our pride, the evolution is very positive.
How does this work materialize?
We have structured everything, our educators are graduates. We have also revitalized and opened up the football class that we have in partnership with the college of Agde to the entire city. We are already seeing the fruits of this work. Afterwards, we know that the journey will be long, we have started from scratch. There is real work that has been undertaken from U6 to U13, our methods are being observed. Things will not happen overnight, but there is a real project around the youth center which Éric Diot, Jeannot Kouadja and Jean-Philippe Cabassut are in charge of. We are also in the process of restructuring the female categories to be competitive. Things are going very well.
What are your goals ?
To continue, if we are given the opportunity, to make young people work and help them progress. And, why not, resume competition before the end of the season. In any case, we are ready. As for the seniors, we obviously hope to be able to finish the season. What we want above all is to avoid the white season. But that’s not our responsibility.
Verbatim
The tournaments. “These are important financial resources for clubs. The problem is that tournaments bring people together. Today, it seems difficult to organize events of this type, hoping, of course, that the situation is developing positively. “
The financial aspect. “We took the opposite view by being in search of new sponsors, to compensate for the financial losses. An internal commission has, for example, been set up in order to benefit from all the possible aid. The situation is not easy, but we have been working on these issues for several months now. The RCOA team is fighting every day to move forward, we are all very motivated. “
Communication. In addition to an online store (www.boutique-rco-agde.fr), the club has opened additional social networks, on Instagram (rcoaofficiel) and Tik Tok (@rcoagde).
