The horse, named Noble, is a gift from the RCMP to the King and has been adjusting to his new home since this week.
A photo posted to Twitter on Saturday by the Royal Family shows a large black horse next to King Charles III.
“The seven-year-old mare, who is 16.2 hands highis currently adjusting to life at the Royal Mews in Windsor,” says a royal family tweet, adding that she was chosen for her athletic ability and calm demeanor.
In a second photo, Noble’s head is lowered to receive a pat on the nose from King Charles III.

She was chosen after impressing for her work in the RCMP Musical Ride tour, where police officers perform complex formations to musical backgrounds on horseback.
“Having demonstrated his potential on the Musical Ride tour, performing at 90 public shows in 50 different locations across Canada, Noble was selected as the ideal horse for Her Majesty due to his size and ability,” said one. Press release of the royal family.

Chosen for her athletic ability and calm demeanour, Noble is a veteran of the RCMP’s Musical Ride and has participated in 90 public performances in 50 locations in Canada.

It is a longstanding tradition for the RCMP to present a horse to the reigning monarch. During the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the latter received eight horses in total from 1969 to 2019.

Noble is expected to become the King’s pack horse, but not before the other horse donated by the RCMP retires.
