RCD Mallorca and Sevilla FC draw 0-0 | RCD Mallorca

RCD Mallorca drew (0-0) against Sevilla FC after a very close match in which both teams had chances to win.

Jagoba Arrasate made four changes to Osasuna and opted for the following starting eleven: Leo Román in goal; Pablo Maffeo (who made his 100th appearance for the club), Antonio Raíllo, Martin Valjent and Johan Mojica in defence; Samu Costa, Manu Morlanes, Antonio Sánchez and Sergi Darder in midfield; and Vedat Muriqi and Cyle Larin in attack.

Leo Román, providential in the first half

The Bermellones started the match well, trying to dominate and making some attempts on the rival goalkeeper. Muriqi almost always finished these chances. Sevilla also had their chances, especially after the half-hour mark. However, Román, who was playing his first minutes of the season, was providential on several occasions, with some excellent saves, to snatch goals from Dodi Lukebakio, Saúl Ñíguez and José Ángel Carmona. Mallorca recovered after the visitors’ push, although the score was 0-0 at half-time.

The best chances of the second half, for Mallorca

At the start of the second half, it was Sevilla who began to press. Román had to intervene again and the Swiss Djibril Sow had the clearest chance for his team with a shot inside the area that did not find the target. After that, Mallorca played its best minutes in terms of creating danger and had important chances with the feet of Muriqi and Samu Costa. Takuma Asano also had one, who came on in the 65th minute. Isaac Romero tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the area with 10 minutes left, but it was the Mallorcans who licked their hands in one of the last plays with a cross from Mojica that Marc Domènech, who made his official debut with the first team, did not manage to finish.

The referee thus signalled the end of the match with the score at 0-0. Mallorca’s next match is on Saturday, at 21:30, against Leganés in Butarque.
