RC Lens’s ‘Our Blood is Gold’ Project Wins 2023 Sport & Management Trophies: A New Approach to Blood Collection

On September 27, RC Lens was rewarded during the 2023 Sport & Management Trophies evening organized at the National Assembly for its “Our Blood is Gold” project.

An event founded in 2013 which aims to reward projects and field players who innovate by putting sport at the service of social, educational, digital, economic or strategic performance, or a structuring personal professional project. Since its creation, this ceremony has already celebrated no less than 1,200 initiatives, including 320 nominated projects and 96 winners.

Last Wednesday, it was Mr. Jean-Luc SADIK, founder of TPS Conseil, and Mr. Arnaud ROUGER, General Director of the LFP who presented Joseph OUGHOURLIAN, president of the Lensois club, with the “Jury’s Favorite” Trophy for the “Our Blood is Gold” project. This initiative, carried out in close collaboration with the French Blood Establishment (EFS) and led by former RC Lens captain Yannick CAHUZAC, aims to raise awareness and mobilize as many stakeholders as possible in blood collection for come to the aid of applicants.

Currently, 411 blood bags have already been collected. Building on an exceptional first mobilization in May 2022, the second edition of the collection took place in May in the heart of the Bollaert-Delelis stadium, the lair of the Sang et Or.

It should also be noted that other French clubs, namely SC Bastia, Olympique de Marseille, Stade Rennais FC and OGC Nice, were also named as part of the “committed players” in French sport in the course this evening. We can only hope that these institutions serve as an example to follow for the entire world of football… and sport in general.
