“At the start of the Mercato, RC Lens is one of the few clubs to have anticipated its recruitment with the already recorded arrivals of Lukasz Poreba (Zaglebie Lubin), Jimmy Cabot (SCO Angers) or Adam Buksa (New England Revolution). Could it be otherwise for one of the most exemplary clubs in Ligue 1 in the way it operates?
Since the arrival of Franck Haise, everything is very clear. Everyone is in their place and everything is thought out with great accuracy. The work of anticipation is to be underlined. Jonathan Clauss has his exit slip? Cabot arrives to replace him. Arnaud Kalimuendo returns to PSG? Adam Buksa arrives at the same time as Lukasz Poreba (the designated replacement for retired Yannick Cahuzac). I saw that RC Lens was interested in Brice Samba (ex-OM, Nottingham Forest). It may be a good idea. In my opinion, Florent Ghisolfi has others. Going for a goalkeeper is not the most complicated thing. Especially when you’re as sharp as Lens can be. There are a lot of goalkeepers who are emerging, interesting understudy in France or abroad… The fact of having anticipated in other positions allows us to focus on this need in the coming weeks. I don’t worry about them. They will find an experienced goalkeeper up to the ambitions. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Lens came up with a name that no one saw coming the way of what happened with Polish Buksa.
Even if we are only at the very beginning of the transfer window and there will undoubtedly still be movement, I am very confident for the future. For two seasons, RC Lens has finished 7th in Ligue 1. With this rapid recruitment and construction, Racing is putting all the chances on its side to start the season well and why not go higher in 2022-23. Behind PSG, I imagine an even more ambitious Lens, in line with clubs like Strasbourg, Rennes, Nice, Monaco or Lyon. I don’t see them falling into line. »
