Like theaters, stadiums face a new health measure taken by the executive on Monday to deal with the Omicron wave, that of restricting their access to 2,000 people inside and 5,000 outside. A football club feels particularly aggrieved by this decision: the RC de Lens. Three home games in January including the famous derby against LOSC on January 4.
“It is still the leisures which toast”
“Me, I did everything, I’m vaccinated, three vaccines, we do everything to have an easier life but no! We are starting to be disillusioned!” testifies Muriel. Disillusioned because his favorite club had to meet big in his stadium in January: Lille, Rennes, Marseille …
But the question for fans like Momo is who is going to see these matches. “From the start we have had a stadium that is filled with more than 35,000 supporters. There, we will end up with 5,000 people, we do not know how it will be managed at the level of the distribution of stands for the number of places …”
There is also concern among bar owners. The cafes will certainly be full, but a new sanitary protocol: no standing fans. “We are real supporters standing with fries and beers,” says Thierry, owner of the café Le Bollaert. “Result of the races, we will have to set tables. There, it is a shortfall for us over three games.”
Blood and gold supporters hope that this 5,000-person mark will not be extended.
