The game :
Lens did not change their squad for Clermont’s reception and started the game strongly with a first chance for Saïd whose head was not crossed. A few minutes later Wieteska hits a perfectly deflected header from Samba (4′). Behind, Racing imposes its game and settles in the Auvergne field, but lacks precision in the last move. For its part, Clermont offers a very compact wall capable of being dangerous against and on set pieces. In the 37th minute Kyei tries a shot from distance in front of an advanced Samba, but the Artesian goalkeeper manages to get back into his cage and deflect the ball for a corner. On the corner that follows, in the duel with Kyei, Abdul Samed touches the ball with his thigh and the latter takes the trajectory of Samba’s goal, surprised and unable to repel the leather. Clermont opened the scoring and will keep this lead until the half-time whistle.

In the 2nd period, Lens settled in the Clermont field and multiplied their ball possessions without however making themselves really dangerous in the Auvergne area. Finally, the Sang et Or will find the flaw in a magnificent collective construction. On a cross from Sotoca, Medina infiltrates the area, but leaves the ball to Saïd who deceives Diaw for the artesian equalizer (1-1, 60′). After this draw, Lens continues to push and it will take a magnificent action by Seko Fofana (control sequence, shot) to see Lens finally take the lead with a hot Bollaert (68′, 2-1). In a boiling Bollaert, Lens controlled their lead against Clermontois who tentatively attempted some breakthroughs. However, the score did not change and Lens achieved their eighth consecutive home victory. With 36 points on the clock, Racing can be proud of a stunning start to the season and a logical 2nd place in Ligue 1. Lens will therefore pass the World Cup at the top of Ligue 1.

Facts to remember:
1′: Frankowski’s cross for Saïd’s header, alone in the area. It is not framed.
4′: Clermont corner with a header by Wieteska, on goal, but the Lens goalkeeper makes a superb save to clear the ball away.
8′: Corner taken by Frankowski for Said’s header, goes high.
11′: Far shot by Fofana, anything but on target.
15′: Medina launches Machado deep. The latter made a back pass for Saïd, but the latter’s shot failed to worry Diaw who easily caught the ball.
24′: Cross by Frankowski for a recovery by Machado, ball deflected in front of Diaw by Seidu.
33′: Sotoca serves Pereira Da Costa on the right. The latter tries the shot, but it is deflected for a corner by a Clermontois. The angle that follows does nothing.
37′: Long shot by Kyei against an advanced Samba, who still manages to come back and deflect the ball for a corner.
39′: BUT FOR CLERMONT! In a corner of Auvergne, Kyei touches the ball with his head, it is deflected with the thigh by Abdul Samed and deceives Samba.
48′: Frankowski tries the shot, easily intercepted by Diaw.
52′: Frankowski’s cross at the far post for Fofana. The Lensois captain tries to recover, but the attempt failed.
60′: BUT TOWARDS THE LENSES! Center of Sotoca, Medina is taken out with a fake, ball that comes back for Saïd who deceives Diaw! The goal equalizes! 1-1!
68′: BUT TOWARDS THE LENSES! Lens takes the lead! Gradit cross for Fofana who checks and deceives Diaw! Awesome! 2-1
77′: Botta by Andric, deflected for a corner by Samba, but the Clermont striker is signaled to be offside.
88′: Free kick by Lensois taken by Frankowski on the right, it is rejected by the Clermont defence.
