The New York Rangers defeated the Nashville Predators 7-0 in a home game of the regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Pucks on account of Philip Chitil (3rd minute), Mika Zibanejad (8), Tyler Mott (9), K’Andre Miller (10, 14), Artemy Panarin (11) and Chris Kreider (30).

Panarin also has two assists. It was his 11th time he scored more than two points in a game with the Rangers. In the history of the club, only Rod Gilbert (13), Brian Leitch and Steve Vickers (both 12) managed to do this more often.

In addition, Panarin reached 80 points for the third time in a season with the Rangers, which is considered the third highest score in the club’s history. More often it was done by Mark Messier (5) and Gilbert (4).

K’Andre Miller was named Man of the Match for being the first defenseman in Rangers history to score four points in a single period.

The Rangers scored five goals in 10 minutes and 1 second, breaking the personal best set on October 24, 1979 (11 minutes and 30 seconds). Since the 1994-95 season, only five teams have managed to score five goals faster: Colorado Avalanche (7:31, March 31, 2021), St. Louis Blues (9:41, April 4, 2019, Montreal Canadiens “(8:41, December 10, 2016), Phoenix Coyotes (8:26, March 28, 2013) and Buffalo Sabers (9:50, December 26, 2006).

For the first time since 1999, the Rangers scored more than five goals in a period. The club’s record for this number has been held since 1971 (eight goals). At the same time, the Rangers have scored 14 goals in a row since March 16, setting a season record.

The New York Rangers are considered one of the most “Russian” clubs in the NHL. The team includes three star Russians – goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin, forwards Artemy Panarin and Vladimir Tarasenko. No other club has such a stellar selection of Russian players.
