RB Leipzig narrowly defeated VfL Bochum 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. However, the performance was manageable.

After a very balanced first half with almost no chances to score, the hosts missed a few big things to even let the Red Bulls go home empty-handed.
In the end, it was Christopher Nkunku (24) who made the difference with his goal in the 82nd minute thanks to a perfectly executed counterattack.
“Our goal was superb! Benny plays a perfect ball to Christo. This guy is something special. As soon as I accepted the ball, I was sure he would score,” said a happy Tyler Adams (23) after the game.

Nevertheless, the narrow result should be a warning signal for the Saxons. The current rhythm of permanent English weeks demands a lot, even if coach Domenico Tedesco (36) can draw on his entire squad at the moment.
Next Wednesday (6.30 p.m. / Sky) there will be a difficult cup away game at Hannover 96. A performance like on Sunday in the Bundesliga will probably not be enough there: “Overall, it wasn’t our best game today, but in the end they count three points and we took them with us,” summed up Yussuf Poulsen (27). His coach followed suit:
“First and foremost, we defended very well and won a lot of important duels. The first eleven accepted this exchange of blows and worked themselves out, so we were able to pave the way accordingly. In the second half Bochum was a little closer to 1-0 than we were, that’s why the win is also a bit lucky for us.”

In the end, the current fourth in the table will probably not be discussed much longer about the manageable performance in Bochum. As long as the result is right, a hard-fought 1-0 must be enough.
