Leipzig – Frank Aehlig (53) returns RB Leipzig back and will take responsibility for the licensed player area at the vice-champion
–
This was announced by CEO Oliver Mintzlaff (45) on Wednesday evening at a fan video conference. After his voluntary resignation at 1. FC Köln at the end of January, Aehlig was supposed to be technical director in the global division of Red Bull from July.
“We want to use his expertise, experience and his network,” said Mintzlaff. Most recently, Timmo Hardung (31) was responsible for the area in Leipzig, but the long-time assistant to ex-trainer Julian Nagelsmann (33) switched to Eintracht Frankfurt.
In addition, Mintzlaff confirmed that he wanted to present a successor to sports director Markus Krösche (40), who had also moved to Frankfurt, by the new season.
