Leipzig – A fan club wants to help! The Holy Bulls are supporters of the Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. At the weekend, however, the away trip went to the Polish-Ukrainian border. The aim: to hand over relief goods and transport war refugees.

“Our Holy Bulls bus drives to the Polish-Ukrainian border fully loaded with relief supplies on Saturday and hands over the items to the House of Hope, which distributes them further in the Ukraine,” explained Jan Wieland (56), Managing Director of Fanbus Leipzig, in an interview with DAY24.

Donations came from all sides. According to the company, there are “a pallet of mineral water, a pallet of pet food, hygiene items, medicines, medical supplies and groceries” on board.

The utensils were sponsored by the Kaufland central warehouse in Osterfeld and the Leipzig dog kindergarten in Wodanstrasse, among others.

Wieland proud: “In addition, there are private monetary donations for the fuel and a number of private donations in kind.”

The bus was scheduled to start at 4 a.m. on Saturday. After unloading at the Ljublin donation center, the journey continued to Warsaw, where 41 refugees were picked up. These should then be taken to the reception center in Mockau, where they arrived early Sunday evening.

To ensure there was enough space in the vehicle, only three fan club supporters were present: the bus driver couple Knut and Simone Becker and André Knoblau, who is responsible for the Holy Bulls.

Since it is not foreseeable how long the crisis situation in Ukraine will last, donations will be collected again on Sunday at the Red Bulls’ home game against Eintracht Frankfurt (3.30 p.m. / DAZN).

“If we all work together, we can achieve great things! And at the same time we are there for those who urgently need us now,” says a statement.

On board were 41 people seeking protection, including children and babies, as well as three dogs, who are leaving their homes behind for the time being but can look forward to a time without fear.
