RB Leipzig Dominate A-Juniors in 4-0 Victory, Hansa’s U17 Also Suffers Defeat

Our A-Juniors were challenged by RB Leipzig on Saturday and were clearly defeated 4-0 in the end. Christan Rahn’s team fell behind early in the game (2nd) and had to concede two more goals in the first half (20th, 36th), so they went into the locker room with a score of 0:3 . And that’s not all. Shortly before the half-time whistle, another blow in the neck: After a red card (38th), our A-Juniors had to play with ten men. With one man less, the aim in the second half was to keep the damage as low as possible, which the Kogge succeeded in doing: Leipzig only scored in the final phase to make the final score 0-4 (73′). “We started the game very poorly and of course it was very difficult from the moment we got the red card. But we held up well in the second half, and I have to compliment my boys for that,” said head coach Rahn after the game words of praise for his team. With seven points from ten games, our U19s are currently in second-to-last place in the A-Junior Bundesliga. Next Saturday (2 p.m.) Hamburger SV will be guests at the Rostock Volksstadion.

Unfortunately, our U17 also suffered a defeat. In the top game of the Northeast Regional League, Tobias Sieg’s team lost out with 2:3 goals. After a good start and a dominant first 15 minutes, the “Young Hanseatic League” lost the thread and had to accept two goals thanks to a double strike from the Erzgebirge team (22nd and 24th). Jan Malte Linow was able to shorten the score for Hansa a little later (29th), but Aue hit back immediately and restored the two-goal lead with the goal to make it 1:3 before half-time (33rd). The second half clearly belonged to our U17s, who pushed for the next goal and hardly allowed the hosts to relieve the pressure. However, numerous chances were missed, and Linow was only able to score again from a penalty (67′). After three wins in a row, our B juniors suffered a narrow 2:3 defeat and the three points in the fight for the lead in the table went to Erzgebirge Aue. Head coach Tobias Sieg described the away defeat as “unnecessary” and alluded to the missed chances in the second half and the goals conceded in the first half: “After a good start, we simply give away three goals. That doesn’t work like that and that “We have to address this clearly,” Sieg analyzed the game, in which he saw a “significantly improved second half”, but in which his team was unable to capitalize on the oppressive superiority. With 22 points from the first eleven games, our U17 is in second place in the Northeast Regional League.
