Razer’s Viper 8K has a report rate of 8,000Hz

In the ongoing e-sports “arms race”, various peripheral manufacturers have to continuously introduce newer and stronger technologies to lead their opponents-even if the practicality of these technologies has been questionable.Following Razer versus Logitech After pushing the DPI number to 25,6000 in the DPI war, Razer put its sight on the return rate, increasing the 1,000Hz return rate (1,000 times per second sent to the computer) common to current gaming products to 8,000Hz in one fell swoop.The first product equipped with this “HyperPolling” technology is called Viper 8K, It is also equipped with an optical key shaft and the aforementioned 20,000 DPI Focus+ sensor.

Theoretically 8 times the rate of return should make the mouse more sensitive and reduce “stuttering”, but to be honest, 1,000Hz is already hard to make people feel like lagging. It is hard to imagine how much 8,000Hz can bring difference. At present, HyperPolling technology can only be used on wired mice, and users who prefer wireless cannot enjoy it.

Leaving aside the 8,000Hz rate of return, Viper itself has a symmetrical design with a total of eight customizable buttons. However, four of them are symmetrical thumb buttons, so whether they are left-handed or right-handed users, one side will be wasted. The price of Viper 8K is NT$2,490 in Taiwan and HK$649 in Hong Kong.
