Razer launches Huntsman V2 with polling rate of 8,000 Hz

When it comes to gaming equipment, Razer is one of the big names. In recent years, they have admittedly broadened the range to both Straw and fingertutor, but that does not stop them from continuing to develop the more traditional mice and keyboard accessories. In January, a new version of the classic mouse Viper was announced, with a pointed one polling rate at a full 8,000 Hz.

Viper is now joined by the new Huntsman V2 keyboard, which will be the company’s first keyboard with what they call “Hyper Polling Technology”. Just like with Viper, it is an increase in how often keystrokes are registered and thus how fast the computer can access the information. This usually occurs once per millisecond (0.001 second), equivalent to 1,000 Hz. Huntsman V2 is turned up to 8,000 Hz, ie reporting every eighth of a millisecond (0.000125 seconds).

The new keyboard is also equipped with the second edition of Razer’s optical switches, which use infrared light to activate the switch in the event of a collision. This means Razer completely eliminates the delay commonly called debounce delay which is done with mechanical switches. With the latest edition, Razer has, among other things, also improved the sound attenuation to provide a better writing experience. The optical switches are available in a linear variant and a tactile variant with clicking sound. According to Razer, the switches together with the Hyperpolling technology will provide the world’s fastest and most responsive keyboard, almost completely free of latency.

Only the full size gets media buttons and an extra knob that can be used, for example, to control the volume. Both variants, on the other hand, have the extra row of programmable macro buttons.

The full-size variant will arrive shortly at retailers and can be ordered directly from Razer for those in a hurry. With a Nordic layout, the price tag lands at the equivalent of SEK 2,130 for linear switches or SEK 2,030 for tactile.
