Raymond van het Groenewoud was in a car yesterday that took him to the South. The vacation was waiting for him and he deserved it. His voice also felt like doing absolutely nothing – no interviews – and that was not surprising. On the closing night of the Gentse Feesten, where he has been providing the sunrise soundtrack for years, Raymond had broken a personal record. Eight hours of playing and singing, 111 songs, for a packed Sint-Jacobsplein that couldn’t get enough of the party. Eight hours of fun, but also eight hours of concentration, memory gymnastics and physical exertion.
