The Prime Minister spoke with the Swiss ambassador accredited to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Gabon, Chasper Sarott, on October 3, 2023.
The meeting between the Prime Minister and Ambassador Chasper Sarott focused on bilateral relations, as well as Gabon’s priorities on the national and international level, particularly after the overthrow of the country’s old institutions. “It’s a courtesy visit. After four weeks of taking office as the Head of the Transitional Government, it was the opportunity for me to get to know him and hear from him what the priorities are both internally and internationally. […]“, declared the Swiss diplomat.
Chasper Sarott expressed his desire to energize and consolidate relations between the two countries, and expand areas of common interest for better cooperation. He wishes to further develop these relations with the combined efforts of the Gabonese side. He also thanked the head of government and expressed his satisfaction with the current state of cooperation between Gabon and Switzerland.
For the Prime Minister, “this visit shows that Gabon is not banned from the international community following the Coup d’Etat by the military who took power after an irregular electoral process“. Note that Gabon has a dynamic diplomacy focused on the diversification of partners, but also on advocacy in favor of preserving peace in the world.
