The decision to give former city councilor Raymond Johansen (Ap) up to three months’ severance pay was perfectly legal. This is confirmed by the State Administrator in Oslo and Viken.

The state administrator has found no fault with either the proceedings or the content of the severance agreement, writes NRK.
It was Rødt who appealed the legality of the decision, which was made by the former city council Johansen himself sat in. The former city council leader received criticism for starting his job as general secretary of Norwegian People’s Aid earlier than three months after his departure as city council leader at the end of October in last year.
Johansen himself chose to start on 1 January, and did not receive severance pay from Oslo municipality after that.
In November, Rødt asked the Conservative-led city council to assess the legality of the emergency decision which granted Johansen up to three months’ severance pay.
