Raymond Johansen om festhelga: –

– Now we do it. Get away with it, says city councilor Raymond Johansen (Labor Party) to Dagbladet, and tears down a poster with corona rules.

In a city bus in central Oslo, the city council leader is in the process of removing all traces of the pandemic. Stickers, posters and restraints are removed to prepare public transport for a normal everyday life.

– We will continue to show consideration, but you do not have to keep your distance, you do not have to spread. Now we encourage people to start using public transport again, he says.

After more than a year and a half with restrictions, Norwegians could finally drop all corona measures from 4pm on Saturday afternoon.

– People took it out

In Oslo encouraged the city council leader to full party, and hoped the residents took advantage of both cultural and nightlife this weekend.

– What do you think about the party weekend?

– As expected. People took it out, and it’s mostly well deserved. Then there is always someone who takes it a little longer than what you strictly speaking should be, but it is probably not completely unexpected, says Johansen to Dagbladet.

– You encouraged a full party, right?

– I encouraged to put Oslo at its feet. My God, there are probably some who have crawled around and put it a little too much on their feet, but that’s the way it is. I think most people have been marked a lot well, he says.

Saturday night was marked by both party, violence and chaos in large parts of the country.

At the nightclub Last Train in Oslo, the bartender himself called the police because the situation was completely chaotic.

– It was real chaos, people are completely cow-cow. It was absolutely awful, said guard on Last Train, Tony Hansen.

The Oslo police informed, among other things Twitter about an increase in reports of fights and disturbances in central Oslo after 2.30.

– Now it’s over

There is a clearly happy and relieved city council leader who now hopes that we “may return to a new normal”.

– It has been a bit of a moving weekend as well. To say that now it is over, that “social distance” is now over. It’s been an unreal 18 months that we’re done now, and it’s amazing, and maybe we’re going back to a new normal.

It is especially demanding to keep your distance in a larger city, Johansen believes, and says that there will be new challenges, but that we now have a good foundation.

– From what I have heard, the party was usable this weekend, so now it’s just a matter of tackling all the challenges we have ahead of us.

Suddenly, the city council leader becomes more serious, and points out the importance of continuing to pay attention to those who are a little insecure.

– Some people will still be anxious. We must also show consideration for them, because for very many of us, you just turn around. For others, who have been terrified, it is not just a matter of turning a switch on and off, he says.

– Now we can squeeze

Removing all traces of the corona pandemic on public transport is a very strong symbol, the city council leader believes.

– To get on the bus, there you can not sit, there you can sit, and everyone with a face mask. There is a very big seriousness in it. It is optional to use mouthwash if you want, but now it is not the case that we require people to wear face masks. We do not require people to keep their distance.

He says that it has been a special way to lead the city, among other things considering all the video meetings.

– We will probably continue with something, but seeing each other and the body language, and not just relate to what you see on the screen, I think we will appreciate that, says Johansen.

– Now we can squeeze, and it is very fine.
