West Ham fan Ray Winstone has criticized UEFA for the Europa Conference League final and also for David Moyes’ tactics this season.
The Hammers travel to Prague next month for their first European final since 1965, but there is fury over the lack of tickets available to fans.
A victory for Moyes’ side against Fiorentina would give West Ham another shot at the Europa League next season after reaching the semi-final a year ago.
West Ham failed to capitalize on seventh place in the Premier League last season, and despite a brief brush with relegation, Moyes was able to lead his team to 14th this time.
But actor Winstone is far from satisfied with the way the season has unfolded despite his happiness at the club’s European exploits.
“I’m very happy but it’s been a hell of a season,” Winstone told talkSPORT when asked about the club’s place in next month’s final.
“You look at them and you think, the way they are playing in the league and then you see them in Europe.”
Winstone also criticized Moyes, saying the former Everton and Manchester United boss has been adopting the wrong tactics with the talent at his disposal.
“Actually we have a very good team, but tactically it has been bad in the Premier League.
“It’s a bright light [the final] in a very depressing season. I think at the beginning of the season we had new players and this also happened at Chelsea, we brought in too many players too quickly.
The Love Honor and Obey actor revealed that he does not know if he will get a ticket for the final and mentioned the choice of the UEFA stadium for the final.
The Hammers were allotted just 5,780 tickets for the match at Prague’s Eden Arena, which has drawn widespread criticism due to its 20,000 capacity.
“I was supposed to go, but everything went wrong,” Winstone said. “It’s a bit up in the air right now, whether I go or not is something else, but I’ll be watching.
“The ridiculous result is that it is a stadium with 20,000 seats for a final in Europe for two great countries in football: Italy and England.
“Ten thousand of those tickets would probably go to FIFA and you think, is it really about fans?
“I know probably 20,000 fans will come out and be in one of the parks and have a great time.
“It never ceases to amaze me the decisions people make. Who were you expecting in the final? Walsall vs. Stockport? There would have been more fans there.”
