Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously mocked the glasses in an earnings call in late July, calling the glasses a partnership between Facebook, Ray-Ban and Essilor Luxottica, implying that these glasses are taken his glasses as serious as his style. Facebook has been working on several different types of wearable devices, including the Oculus Quest 2 products, but a pair of the company’s smart glasses is likely to be significantly underestimated compared to a product like that.
Zuckerberg has been touting the metaverse lately, trying to entice investors to the CEO’s vision for the future of connectivity with each other and interactivity with the real world. Facebook has previously talked about wearables that will allow users to intelligently interact with their environment without getting in the way. That certainly makes us think these are AR glasses, but we only have a few days to know for sure.
