7. Raw Snake Vaccination | Frequent questions
1. I have never had chickenpox, do I need the shingles vaccine?
More than 95% of people over the age of 50 are infected with the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). Everyone has different symptoms and reactions to shingles infection. Symptoms may not be obvious, and some people don’t know they’ve actually had chickenpox before. Therefore, immunocompromised adults 50 years of age and older should be vaccinated against shingles (raw snake) regardless of past chickenpox.
2. Can the raw snake vaccine and other vaccines be given at the same time?
Some components of the vaccine can interact with each other or reduce their effectiveness. Consult your doctor if more than one vaccine needs to be given at the same time.
3. How long does it take to get a booster injection after live snake vaccine?
The efficacy of the raw snake vaccine can be maintained for at least 5 years. At the moment, booster shots are not recommended, but more research data is needed on the need for booster injections in the future.
