At the beginning of May, the artist announced on Instagram that they will go through life from now on as Raven and identifies as non-binary. Martien still has to get used to it: “Go on, eh, Raven. Girl, I have to switch gears, of course.”
“When you changed your name to Raven, didn’t you get a lot of comments about it, or was it not that bad?” the former lord of the castle then wonders. Raven: “That depends a bit on where you look. In my own environment people have been very supportive. You too, you do your best and you try to take it into account.”

However, not everyone is always so understanding: “When I look outside my own bubble, I suddenly see enough criticism and talk and ‘what is this weird identity politics?’ In one ear, out the other. I don’t owe anyone anything.” Caroline and Martien understand Raven all too well. Both regularly have to endure a lot, but don’t let that put them off the field. “Just wait with your comment”, Martien concludes.
