The Hercules reinforces the position of right back with the incorporation, today made officially, of AlicanteRaúl RuizMatarín, who debuted with the Blue and Whites’ first team in 2008, at the age of 18, under the command of Juan Carlos Mandiá. Since then he has been a member of Real Madrid Castilla, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Albacete and Guijuelo.
Raúl, born in 1990, was until now in the ranks of the AEK Larnaca in Cyprus and had a contract until 2021 but has been loaned to the Alicante club.
The operation had been brewing for several days but it was not easy since the player had a high contract. Raúl trained in the Blue and Whites’ youth academy and Mandiá made him debut, in the Second Division, against Zaragoza a few days after reaching the age of majority. Then he acted as a winger, but over the years he has established himself as a winger, a position that Hercules wants to strengthen for the second round to fight for permanence with more guarantees.
Raúl ended up in the Real Madrid branch in 2009 but the progression was not as expected and then he passed without too many opportunities for Albacete and San Sebastián de los Reyes, always in the bronze category. His great jump was in Guijuelo, also from Segunda B, a team in which he played five consecutive seasons, became captain and one of thebest right backsof the category. For this reason last summer he was recruited by coach Imanol Idiakez for AEK Larnaca and signed the most important contract of his career.
Several Second B teams fighting for promotion had been interested in his services but Raúl has put the Hercules before any offer even if he is fighting not to go down to Third.
