Mexico City. The Mexican Raúl Jiménez had a great performance in the Premier League by scoring a goal although his team, Fulham, lost 1-3 against Aston Villa, which entered the qualification zone for the Champions.
Jiménez opened the scoring just five minutes into the match by overcoming the rival defense to send a left-footed shot with which he beat goalkeeper Emiliano Back Martínez, world champion with Argentina.
However, the tricolor’s efforts were of little use as Aston Villa equalized four minutes later with a goal from Morgan Rogers.
Shortly after, Fulham had a chance to regain the lead when Matt Cash was fouled inside the area. Jiménez asked for the ball to take the maximum penalty but the Brazilian Andreas Pererira beat him in an argument and was in charge of shooting from eleven steps although Back Martínez saved the penalty.
Thus, Fulham began to lose their rhythm, especially after the expulsion of Joachim Andersen (64), so Aston Villa took advantage to take the victory with goals from Ollie Watkins (59) and an own goal from Issa Diop (69).
Aston Villa also finished the duel with 10 players on the field after the expulsion of Jaden Philogene (90+3).
