The engine of a RATP hybrid bus caught fire on Monday at the start of the afternoon at the exit of the Porte de Clignancourt ring road. The bus was returning to the depot, no one was injured.
A bus on line 21 (Stade Charléty – Porte de Gentilly / Porte de Saint-Ouen – Bichat Hospital) caught fire on returning to the depot on Monday shortly before 1 p.m. at the exit of the ring road, Porte de Clignancourt. There were no passengers and the driver was not injured.
“There were no passengers on board, the bus was returning to the depot. The driver put his bus in safety and called the emergency services”indicates the RATP by press release which adds that “according to the first observations the fire would have taken at the level of the engine after a release of smoke noted”.
The fire was quickly put out by the firefighters but this exit ramp was still closed in the middle of the afternoon while the wreckage of the vehicle was cleared (without traffic being disturbed on the ring road).
Last year, two electric buses had already caught fire. “With regard to the 2nd fire on a recent electric bus of the same Bluebus 5SE series of the Bolloré brand in less than a month, the RATP took the decision as a precautionary measure, in conjunction with Île-de-France Mobilités , to temporarily withdraw from operation the 149 electric buses of this series”said the RATP in a press release.
This time, the bus concerned is hybrid and of another brand: MAN. “An investigation will be carried out to determine the circumstances of this fire”advances the Autonomous Paris Transport Authority.
