However, the Franconians, threatened with relegation, offered the Ulm team a tough fight. Their best man, Desi Rodriguez, was unstoppable for the hosts, scoring 20 points in the first half and 41 by the end. While the guests got down to business, the Ulm team presented themselves with better body language than last time against Braunschweig, but also missed easy points in front.

Overall it was a lively first half with slight advantages for Würzburg. The ratiopharm basket hunters had to do without their injured center Cristiano Felicio. But Ulm’s own growth and youngster Nicolas Brezel replaced him well and scored a total of ten points.
After falling behind at half-time (39:42), the Ulm team came out of the dressing room with more energy, hit their three and were able to improve their defense.
