Ratings: The Center Party and EKRE have overtaken the Social Democrats in the rating table

Last week brought major changes in the political party ranking table, when the Social Democratic Party (SDE), which had been in third place until now, was forced to give way to the Center Party and the Estonian Conservative People’s Party. (EKRE) to pass. e.

Based on the results of the weekly survey by the Institute of Social Studies and research company Norstat Estonia, 28.7 percent of eligible citizens support the Fatherland, 19.2 percent for the Reform Party, and 13.1 percent for Center Party.

The support of the main Isamaa and the Reform Party in the second stage did not change significantly during the week. With almost equal support, the Center Party is followed by EKRE and the Social Democratic Party, which have 13 and 12.7 percent support, respectively. The support of the Socialists has fallen by five percentage points in the last five weeks, and this fall has dropped from second to fifth place in the ranking table. Among the parliamentary parties with the lowest support is Estonia 200, supported by 4.3 percent of respondents.

A total of 36.2 percent of respondents support the coalition party and 54.8 percent support the opposition party.

According to Martin Mölder, an associate professor at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies at the University of Tartu, the trends and conditions of the previous weeks will largely continue in the form of support for the political parties.

The support of the Reform Party is still slightly less than 20 percent, and according to Mölder, it is not seen at the moment that it is clearly moving in one direction or another. “The four-week average support of the following three parties, namely the Center Party, EKRE and the Social Democrats, are a few fractions of a percentage point apart this week. The support of the Center Party has been in a slight growth trend in the last few weeks, while the support of EKRE has been rather stable with small fluctuations, and the support of the Social Democrats continues to decrease. In previous weeks, support for the Socialists fell only among Estonian voters, but this week we also see a decline among Russian voters. If the support of the Socialists was close to 18 percent in August, it is now at 12.7 percent,” said Mölder.

If the Riigikogu elections were to take place now, Isamaa would get 35 seats in this Riigikogu, 23 seats for the Reform Party, 15 seats for the Center Party and EKRE and the Social Democrats 14 seats. “Although there are still two and a half years until the elections, the time when these numbers start to influence the behavior of political parties and politicians is not far away either. As the difference with the current distribution of seats is significant, many of the current members of the Riigikogu – currently all 200 groups in Estonia and a large part of the party group Re- development – in danger of losing their jobs, and, for example, the Social Democrats. , the Center Party and especially Isamaa could bring a large number of new representatives to the new parliament. ” Mölder said.
