Rath’s ex-adviser Busina was given six years

According to the verdict in 2007-2009, Bušina was to give Miloslav Vodrážek instructions to the company and co-convicted David Belous, the owner of the advertising company, regarding the management of the company and the management of financial resources. He included fictitious invoices in his accounts, which he knew were not substantiated.

Thus, they were to cause damage to taxes to the Czech Republic of almost 330 million crowns, for which Vodrážka is already serving a seven-year sentence.

“The court considered it proven that the nominees reduced taxes to a large extent,” said Robert Pacovský, chairman of the senate.

“Busina and Belous were the ones in the background, giving instructions on how the companies should work,” the judge said.

The group’s modem operandi was to be the establishment of companies, from which fictional invoices were then created. The money was allegedly taken from advertising companies, and according to the court, tax administration officials participated in the criminal activities.

For example, companies allegedly arranged the contracted advertising services themselves, but put into account accounting fictitious invoices, according to which they ordered work from other companies. The defendants allegedly controlled the companies involved through intermediaries, the so-called white horses. In addition to tax cuts, the group was also tried for money laundering.

Five years ago, the regional court acquitted Busin, along with Belous and four other people, of accusing him of not accepting wiretaps as evidence, which he said were illegal. After the intervention of the Prague High Court, which found that the evidence of wiretapping was justified, the regional court had to decide again.

“In our opinion, the wiretaps make it possible to formulate the conclusion stated in the indictment,” said Judge Pacovský.

Another eight defendants, including Vodrážka, have already been convicted.
