The caretaker interior minister commented that “the prosecution is currently very actively engaged in defending the chief prosecutor”
The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office has carried out an inspection at the Academy of the Ministry of Interior, announced the caretaker Minister of Interior Boyko Rashkov. According to him, on Friday two prosecutors searched for documents related to the education and diploma of Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev.
“The prosecutor’s office is currently very actively engaged in defending the chief prosecutor, ie the chief. This is my reading of what happened not only on Friday, but also in previous weeks,” Rashkov commented.
According to the Interior Minister, the state prosecution did not comply with the decisions of the parliament, and the prosecutors who carried out the inspection at the Academy of the Ministry of Interior were contacted by the media, which wrote that Interior Ministry officials went to the academy to destroy documents. related to Geshev’s diploma.
“These are absolute lies, but this media is convenient for the prosecutor’s office,” Rashkov commented, without mentioning the media’s name. He also asked whether the prosecutor’s office was putting pressure on the Interior Ministry and whether it was not worried about finding something wrong with Ivan Geshev’s diploma.
Doubts about the diploma of the Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev were first expressed by the lawyer and former MP Mincho Spasov. The topic was later raised several times, including in plenary. The question of whether Geshev’s diploma gives him legal capacity and whether it is valid was asked to the caretaker Minister of Justice Yanaki Stoilov a few weeks ago. He then explained that the competent agency that could answer this question was the Ministry of Education, and forwarded the questions to Minister Nikolay Denkov.
Meanwhile, Geshev’s deputy Daniela Masheva assured that the diploma is valid, hinting that if the diploma from the Academy of the Ministry of Interior is not recognized, it means that many judges, lawyers and notaries have the same.
On Friday last week, lawyer Nikolay Hadjigenov from “Stand up BG! We are coming!” asked the question again, this time from the parliamentary rostrum. The answer of the Minister of Justice Yanaki Stoilov was that it is completely legitimate and that he finished with a five.
“Dnevnik” asked the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office with questions, but they did not answer and did not confirm the information that there was such an inspection at the Academy of the Ministry of Interior. The academy also has no official answers to Dnevnik’s questions.
