A Bulgarian tried to find out fictitious section in Germany
“We have an interesting case in Kyustendil. There, a former interior minister held a reunion these days with a former district governor and one who was hospitalized. (Police Director Elian Stamboliiski – ed. note). They discussed how to attract 15,000 Macedonians with Bulgarian citizenship to vote here. In our country.”
This was announced by caretaker Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov on Thursday. He did not name a name, but indirectly directed suspicion at his predecessor, Hristo Terziiski. He immediately reacted on Facebook.
As soon as he dropped the bomb, Rashkov clarified that no pre-trial proceedings had been instituted in the case.
“But we have a duty to make it public, thinking that this publicity will to some extent secure the July 11 elections,” he said. He pointed out that for the time being he will not remove the hospitalized Stamboliyski because they will accuse him of purge. But he was told that by law he should be depoliticized, not politically neutral. The Deputy Prime Minister did not name the policeman.
A famous politician from the recent past is buying votes in the regions of Vratsa, Montana and Vidin. They are in favor of a party “of a certain ethnic group”, Rashkov said on the occasion of the action launched by the Ministry of Interior against the buying and selling of votes. By Thursday morning, the alerts were 97 and the pre-trial proceedings were 9.
Apart from Bulgaria, there were also signals from abroad. For example, in Germany, a Bulgarian who settled in the federal republic tried to open a section by submitting applications for voting to Bulgarians who had no idea of his actions. He has not cut off contacts with “operationally interesting people”, said Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Stoyan Temelakiev. He clarified that according to him, the opening of this section will not take place.
The analysis of the previous vote showed that in a village in Pleven district there were initially 300 registered voters. Then they became over 1000.
“There the percentage goes to the socialist years ago, guess from the first time for which party,” Rashkov said, but again did not name the political organization.
Elective tourism has already begun for the July 11 vote. “We have data that it is being prepared in many settlements. It is planned to concentrate a large number of Bulgarian citizens at one address in the days before the elections, “Rashkov added. He pointed out that these are cities from Blagoevgrad district, but not only. In order to stop the domestic election tourism, the Ministry of Interior would work with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
The last two signals for buying votes were from Burgas district. One is from the village of Ekzarh Antimovo, where a search of an apartment turned up a mobile phone with photos of ID cards of 31 people. They were promised BGN 80 per vote. If the whole family voted for the said party, there was a bonus – another BGN 20.
The second case is from the Komluka district of Burgas. There, detectives searched two addresses and found lists of debtors to moneylenders. They were promised to forgive part or even all of their duties if they voted for a particular party. Two people were detained because of the election trade.
The operation of the Ministry of Interior against the buying and selling of votes will continue until the day of the vote.
Hristo Terziiski: To act if there is a crime
The caretaker Minister of the Interior should act if there is evidence of a crime, or be responsible for his actions. This was written on Facebook by former Interior Minister Hristo Terziiski. And he described Rashkov’s words as “slanderous allusions, which, although unspoken, can easily be associated with me.”
He added that Rashkov may have a personal dislike for him. He described the Deputy Prime Minister’s phrase as “an effort to influence the election campaign”.
