Rashida Jones is nostalgic for pre-pandemic New York

In On the Rocks, the latest film by Sofia Coppola released on Apple TV+,
Rashida Jones respond to
Bill Murray against the backdrop of the bustling life of New York. Or at least New York before the coronavirus pandemic. And as such, the actress cannot help but be overwhelmed by nostalgia when she thinks back to the shooting of the film, however recent.

“I learned in retrospect how much I love and appreciate New York City, and because we shot it just before the lockdown, it immediately feels nostalgic. So I learned that I still love New York because sometimes I question (the city) but I already feel like I miss it during this time,” she told Gold Derby.

Melancholy

A feeling redoubled by the fact that the actress really finds herself in the character written for her by Sofia Coppola, that of a middle-aged New Yorker in search of herself and for whom the beating heart of the city no doubt helps to drown out the noise of his existential anxieties.

“I think I’ve learned that I’m not the only person who feels this kind of melancholy about coming into middle age and trying to figure out how you fit into your own life. Because I think this character that Sofia wrote is a bit of the archetype of a woman of a certain age and what she is going through and I recognize myself in it, ”continued Rashida Jones.
