Marcus Rashford gave his first media interview after losing to Liverpool. He attended Manchester United’s pre-Europe League conference with manager Erik Ten Haag.

It was a press conference to preview the Europa League match against Real Betis, but most of the questions asked of Rashford were about the disappointment of last weekend’s loss to Liverpool.

The first question is more positive. It is from what aspects have improved this season after going through a difficult previous season.

You are a role model for many young players. What changes have you made on your way from the disappointing last season to your best performance this season? How was Eric ten Haag’s appointment as manager related and how did it change?

“The most important thing is that I am 100% healthy. I had good training with the team in the pre-season. There was also a new manager, new staff, and a new way of playing. It was interesting. I gave everything I could and never looked back. We played as a team, and I think we were able to win big games through our style of play. It seems like it’s been a long time since we can talk in a place like this. I’ve won big games in the past, but in a different way. This season we are playing our best, our way, and we are trying to win that way.”

For Manchesterites, last weekend was a huge disappointment. Can we bring back a good season after the disappointment against Liverpool?

“100% yes. Just looking at the Liverpool match, the match between the two teams is actually special. It is a game that does not matter the form of the team or player. It is a type of game that can be decided in the 90th or 95th minute. The goal came around halftime, but it could have been a completely different picture. At 0-0 we missed Luke Shaw’s pass, but at 1-0 we could have been ahead. There were two or three chances. It should have been before halftime, but it didn’t. We lost 1-0. Still, it wasn’t a bad position and I thought I could create a chance in the second half. But he couldn’t take the game away from Liverpool. As the director said, you have to reset. that’s all we can do It’s useless to think about it any longer because it’s something we can’t change. You have to hit the reset button and go back to basics. You just have to give 100% to win Thursday’s game.”

What do you think of people’s comments about giving up and stopping running in the second half? What conversations did you have with each other in the locker room after the game?

“We didn’t give up. That is nonsense. We didn’t have good organization. Communication was also not smooth. right. So I gave up the goal. But everyone tried to make up for it. I think it was a play that deviated from the team’s principles. After the game, I said, but the pressure of the attackers did not connect with the midfield, and the midfield and defense did not. I tried to understand when it was 2-0, 3-0, but it seems that we didn’t agree with each other. It’s already happened. All we can do is learn from it and move on. I think it’s fortunate that I can play the next game quickly because I have a chance to move on to another game.”

He said on social media that he would not let the Liverpool match define the season. Is one of the toughest moments while playing for United is being beaten by rivals like this?

“Losing to Liverpool is enough. Scores don’t matter. It’s not good when you lose to Liverpool or against a big rival. never feel good But I always remember how many times we beat those teams. They have the same feelings, and that is football. We think too deeply and cannot look back. You should be thankful that the game continues quickly. We have the principles from the beginning of the season, we are still competing in all competitions and we have a lot of work to do. I want to leave a game like Liverpool behind and play another game as soon as possible.”

What do you think of Bruno Fernandez as a captain?

“I love playing with Bruno. He’s the perfect player for a striker like me. He has always been a good leader even if he is not captain. He is also a player who helped other players become leaders. A team with only one captain as the leader is not going to be a good team. There has been nothing negative about Bruno since joining. As coach Ten Hag said, he said, no one is perfect. When he tries to win too much, he also acts out of proportion. I support Bruno 100%. He’s a fantastic player and we wouldn’t be where we are today if he hadn’t played for us. I think we should support him as a team.”
